TV star Keith Chegwin popped into South Tyneside's top chippy to presents a prestigious award.
To celebrate National Chip Week, Cheggers and potato expert Rob Clayton presented Colmans, in Ocean Road, South Shields, with an award for serving the regions best chips.
Chegwin said: "Colmans chips are golden, steaming hot, and just melt in the mouth. They're delicious."
Manager RIchard Ord said: "We are delighted.
"Our customers have always said we serve the best chips, so it's great to make it official."
A national vote being held at www.lovechips.co.uk will decide the national winner.
